I will be doing a review on YouTube because it is one of my most used mobile apps. Every night before bed, I am on the app. YouTube is an online video-sharing platform that was created by three former PayPal employees in 2005. YouTube was purchased by Google in 2006 and continued to grow. YouTube is an addicting app that will have you busy during the quarantine. Billions of videos are watched each day and videos are being uploaded daily. There are so many different categories for the viewer to get binged into. Whether you are looking to learn or share content, YouTube has you covered. 5/5 would recommend.
The app is very easy to use. When you open the app you will be brought to your home tab which will be videos about your subscriptions, ads, COVID-19 news, featured, and suggested videos. It will look as pictured below:

There are several tabs that you can go to and each one has different selections. The Explore tab will show you videos that are trending along with several different categories that you can go into for videos on that subject. The explore tab will look as pictured below:
The explore tab will do as it says, helps you explore. Here, you could find a new subject that you possibly will enjoy watching or your new favorite song. You could hours upon hours going from murder documentaries to the baby shark video that will get stuck in your head for days. Parents will know what I'm talking about. But now if you go into the subscriptions tab, it will bring you to profiles that you are subscribed to (pictured below).
On this tab, your subscriptions will be on top and if you click on them, it will bring you to their page with all their videos. Don't mind my corny subscriptions. And on the next tab 'Inbox' is where you will get notifications from your subscriptions. For example, you will get notifications when one of your subscriptions go live or upload a new video. As you can see on mine, I haven't enabled notifications so I don't have anything in the inbox.
The last bottom tab will your library. Within this tab is your recently watched, history, your videos, purchases, watch later list, and your playlists. Pretty much like any other library on other apps. It will look something like below:
The last part we will be looking at is the search. Towards the top if you click on the magnifying glass, you can search for whatever you're looking for. Mostly likely you'll always get a result. It will also show your search history as seen below. Pay no attention to my searches classmates.
Overall, the YouTube app is straight forward to use and easy to understand. I use the app daily and have little to no problems.
The recommendations I have for this app isn't much, but would make a lot of people more satisfied with the app. The first would be to stop asking to upgrade to premium every other time you open the app. The more it appears, the more I cringe from YouTube premium. The second recommendation would be to let the users play music and videos with the screen locked. Yes, I know that upgrading to premium would let you but it's still not enough to make to upgrade. The last recommendation would be to stop suggesting me to meet happy, active singles in my area. I would be ok with any other ad, but enough is enough.
